The brewery today makes far more beer in its Saranac craft line than the old school domestic lager Utica Club . But it chose to keep the ” Utica Club ” name. (The original sign said ” Utica Club Pilsner” on one side and ” Utica Club Ale ” on the other. The ale is no longer produced ).
Utica Club was the brand name of sodas sold by F.X. Matt Brewing Company in Upstate New York during prohibition. When President Franklin D. Roosevelt signed the repeal of Prohibition in 1933, F.X.

Club Beer – Labatt Brewing Company – Untappd.
In 1981, the Schaefer family sold the company to the Stroh Brewery Company. It operated the plant until it was absorbed by Pabst Brewing Company in 1999. When Pabst opted to become a “virtual brewer”, it sold the plant to Diageo just two years later.
Utica, NY– Saranac Adirondack Lager has done it againÔǪfor the 8th time. It has been awarded as one of the best beers in the world at the Brussels Beer Challenge, winning a bronze medal in the German Style Marzen Category.

Utica Club is a 5.0% abv pale lager and has 137 calories per 12 US fl oz (355 mL) serving (1,620 kJ/L); introduced in 1933 at the West End Brewing Company (today the Matt Brewing Company).
When Carling stopped producing Black Label to focus on a more profitable lager, they found their sales plummeting. Carling and the Black Label brand are currently owned by the Molson Coors Brewing Company. Though no longer widely distributed in the U.S., Black Label remains the official beer of Beer Frisbee.
Matched pairs of good condition 1959 version vintage Schultz and Dooley Beer steins can sell for between $350 and $500 at auction. Individual examples sell for considerably less than half the price of a duo.
